By 1911 James aged 25 was living as a boarder with his wife of one year, Ruth Grove, at 57 Montague Rd., Hendon. He was employed as an analyst in a government laboratory. The head of the house was Arthur Edward Tarzey who was also an analyst in a government laboratory.
