Oliver Fyson enlisted in the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force on the 23rd September 1914 at Valcartier, Canada. On his attestation form he gave his date of birth as the 25th October 1884 at Hull, Yorkshire, England, his next of kin as his mother, Mrs E. Fyson, Elmley Lovett, Worcestershire, England and his occupation as a Clerk. He was 5 feet 9½ inches tall with grey eyes, light brown hair and a fair complexion.
Oliver sailed from Canada with his unit on the 3rd October 1914. His service records provide no further information on his military activities other than the fact that he was killed in action on the 23rd April 1915.
