Further Information About FOXALL Sidney
Sidney Foxall was a pre-war regular soldier in the Worcesters and he served in the 1st Battalion. He was probably recalled from the Reserve to join his battalion when it returned from India. They landed in France on the 5th November and went into the front line in Artois near Armentières. For the first of the British army’s Spring attacks of 1915 the Worcesters were in the front line at Neuve Chapelle. The battle lasted from the 12th to the 15th March and no ground was gained. The losses were high and included Private Sidney Foxall who was severely wounded. He was taken to a military hospital near Boulogne where he died of his wounds.
