Eric Dent was born in Birmingham. He attended Worcester Royal Grammar School from 1911 to 1912. He died of wounds of wounds received during the Battle of Messines.

Mr S.J. Dent of Hollyhurst, Malvern Link has received official intimation on Friday last that his son Pte E. Dent has died of wounds. He joined the RAMC, but subsequently transferred to the infantry. He was an Old Elizabethan.

The Revd Ernest Charles at Malvern Link Free Church referred to the following men who have been associated with the church on Sunday (24th June) evening:
……..Eric Dent, who joined up at 17 and a half and fell at Messines the other day, being one of the first to go over the parapet after the explosion.
