Cecil Danks was born on 23rd September 1899 in Ipsley, Redditch, Worcestershire. He enlisted in the Royal Air Force on 16th September 1918 when he gave his next of kin as his father, Wm Danks, 10 Parsons Rd, Mount Pleasant, Redditch. Cecil was 5 feet 8 inches tall with dark brown hair, brown eyes and a sallow complexion. He was transferred to the R.A.F. Reserve on 28th December 1919 and discharged from the service on 30th April 1920. On 19th June 1920 Cecil married Maude Elizabeth Court, spinster, in Redditch and the couple had at least 8 children. On 26th November 1937 Cecil enlisted for a further 4 years service with the Royal Air Force.
