Malvern News, 16th September 1916:
Pte William Frederick Butt, the eldest son of the late Mr and Mrs F. Butt of Meadow View, Pickersleigh Rd, who joined the Royal Berks soon after the outbreak of war was killed by a shell on 3rd September 1916. He leaves a widow and a son. He was 25 and had been at the front for 12 months. He was for sometime a member of the Territorial Artillery.
