William lived with his uncle at 20 Lichfield Street, Stourport. He was in the Bible class and a prominent member of the football team which was at one time was connected with it. A devout and serious young man, he was probably the first man from Stourport to give his life for his country. He was posted missing on the 26th August 1914.
