HMS Puckeridge was a Type II Hunt Class Escort Destroyer. She was launched on 17th October 1940 and saw action in the English Channel, North Africa and Sicily. On 6th September 1943 she was on escort and patrol duty in the Mediterranean when she was torpedoed by U617 whilst on passage to Gibraltar. Two torpedoes hit the ship’s stern detonating a magazine. The ship sank in 8 minutes with the loss of 62 crew members, 129 survivors were rescued.
