Berrows Worcester Journal, 30th October 1915
‘Information has been received by his widow, who lives at 26, George Street, of the death of Pte. J Baker, of the 4th Worcestershires, who was killed in action on the 28th of last month. He formerly kept the New Inn, George Street, but was better known as a bootmaker and repairer, having a shop on Rainbow Hill. He was formerly President of the Worcester Boot and Shoe Repairers’ Association. He had served his time in the 1st Worcestershires, going through the Boer War. He re-enlisted about three months ago. He was 47 years of age. He has a younger brother Sergt -Major A. Baker, in the South African Defence Force, who also went through the Boer War with the Worcestershire Yeomanry’.
