HMS President III was a shore establishment. Based initially in Bristol and then in Windsor, it was the headquarters and accounting base for personnel on Defensively Armed Merchant Ships.
A letter from Cyril’s mother, Mrs M. Andrews, Stock Green, Astwood Bank, Redditch dated 26th March 1952 can be found within war records held at Worcestershire Archives requesting that his name be added to the county roll of honour. The letter gives the information that Cyril Andrews, Able Bodied, RN, service no P/G X334765, age 23, was reported missing believed killed on 12th February 1944. He had been in the navy just 2 years, in South Africa his last trip.
